Richards Urges Dairy Promotion to Cut Surplus
Owen M. Richards general manager of the American Dairy Association told Linn county dairymen in Cedar Rapids that strong advertising can curb an eight billion pound surplus of dairy product from 116 billion pounds. He cited tobacco advertising as a model and urged more buyable campaigns for milk. Butter promotion and full color ads are planned, with quality control stressed to maintain repeat business. Over 100 producers attended the Linn county Dairyman's Association banquet. Perry Knapp will be president in 1950 with Floyd Booth and Alva Beebee among the officers.
