Snowmobilers face hazards as record Iowa snowfall arrives
The Iowa DNR warns more snowmobilers mean more accidents with speeding and alcohol as top factors. Injuries rose to 70 last year from 55 in 1999, and two riders were hurt while navigating unmarked hazards. Local officials in West Union consider tighter rules while clubs stress trail safety and group riding.
