Derrick P. Tharp 21 faced criminal trespass public intoxication and theft by deception after fleeing a 35 mile Cedar Rapids to Vinton cab ride and hiding in a homeowner's upstairs closet. He owed 42.10 and paid all but 1.10, was jailed then released on recognizance with a Feb. 11 trial date.
