Snow count to measure Iowa whitetail deer population
Wildlife biologists plan to fly low over eastern central Iowa after two snows to count deer. Bob Dolan explains the first snow concentrates deer and the second covers their beds, revealing beds as brown patches from the air. They will survey 10 percent of timber per county to estimate statewide numbers for management programs.
