Michael Lee Hegland died Tuesday at home, age unknown, son of Dennis L. and Mrs. Hegland. He is survived by a brother David and sister Tarie, with grandparents Oberlin and Bertha Hegland of Hiawatha and Joseph Williams of Burlington, and others. Services set for noon Friday at Turner Chapel West with Rev. Richard A. Osing. Burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Turner West until 11:30 a.m. Friday. Casket will not be opened after the service.

Sheriff deputy arrested him on a Justice of the Peace Glenn Powers warrant for false pretense. The complaint by Glenn O Mann says Hartman kept a 1968 model car for 45 days, charged 550 dollars, did little work aside from pounding a fender and installing an old grille, and incurred two tickets. Hartman to have preliminary hearing Jan 31, bond set at 1000 dollars.
Diane M. Paul, 20, received a suspended three month county jail sentence after pleading guilty to possession of hashish for personal use. Linn District Judge Harold Vietor imposed the sentence on a Wednesday. State recommended six months and a $300 fine. A May search of her Cedar Rapids rural home found hashish.
A reform bill would impose state by state spending limits on presidential primaries based on voting age populations. If signed by Nixon, the measure would take effect in 60 days, skipping early primaries like New Hampshire and Florida. It also tightens air time pricing for federal candidates and imposes disclosure reports starting at $1,000.
