Call For 150000 More Beh Warrants
Des Moines state sinking fund revenue over the last thirteen months enabled the treasury to call 2650000 of the 3500000 issue of anticipatory warrants sold to Carleton D. Beh. State Treasurer Wegman called 150000 of the warrants for Feb 1, leaving 850000 outstanding. The first call was made a year ago before a legislative investigation started because the sale was at 5 percent interest without public bidding. The fund guarantees public deposits in closed banks, drawing revenue from beer taxes, payments from closed banks, and 1 percent interest on all public deposits.
