Iowa House Starts Revamp of Unified Court Bill
Des Moines AP The Iowa House Judiciary Committee began revising a bill to create a unified trial court and abolish justice of the peace courts. The panel debated concepts, debated Grassley plan options, and voted to proceed with a unified court while preserving municipal courts as associate district courts. Governor Ray backs the measure as a priority. House members proposed amendments on funding and jurisdiction.

Legislative Notes by Frank Nye No Butz About It
A Des Moines Tribune miscaption shows State Sen. Francis Messerly labeled as Earl L. Butz, misidentifying him in a photo. Colleagues note Messerly as appropriations chair often saying no to appropriations. Also mentions Rep. A June Franklin backing Humphrey and Don Schiel campaigning in Iowa for Humphrey.
