SIOUX CITY AP Arrival in Iowa of the first of two huge truck shipments carrying components for the Palo nuclear power plant near Cedar Rapids has been delayed until the end of the month. George Roe Sioux City district maintenance engineer for the Iowa highway commission said Friday the schedule now calls for departure Jan 24 with arrival here Jan 31 or Feb 1. Roe did not know the reason for the delay. The two shipments to be carried on nine axle vehicles will weigh 65 tons and be 14 feet high, 14 feet wide and 103 feet long. The shipments require special permits from the highway commission and will be the largest loads ever moved over Iowa highways. Roe said South Dakota highway officials told him they have not received an official request yet for a permit for the trucks to cross that state.
