At a Chicago dinner honoring Forest Evashevski the Iowa coach’s staff was kept intact. Jerry Hilgenberg stayed at Iowa after being offered a Michigan post, while Jerry Burns withdrew his Detroit head coaching bid. East Moline led 24-6 after one quarter and 58-23 at halftime in an 85-53 win over winless Jefferson. Frigid Third Kills Sophs in East Moline Victory

East Moline used a 14-5 third quarter run to beat Jefferson sophomores 50-40. Jefferson led 12-7 after one, trailed 20-19 at halftime, and could not overcome East Moline's 3rd period surge as Bowen scored 14 for J-Hawks and Bare 15 for East Moline.

Herb Score Signs 1959 Cleveland Pact
