Iowa infant mortality debate narrows on reporting standards
Dr. Herman Hein questions whether Iowa’s infant mortality rise to 8.2 in 1995 reflects national trends or inconsistent reporting. Kids Count cites U S rate at 7.9. Canada 6.8. Japan 4.3. Other indicators show rising teen births and child abuse, with urban rural gaps and a slight drop in high school graduation to 86.7 percent.
