Gulf War veterans in Iowa show higher illness rate
Iowa Gulf War veterans are more than three times as likely to report significant medical problems such as musculoskeletal issues cognitive dysfunction or asthma compared with peers who did not serve in the gulf. The two year CDC led study involving about two thousand Iowa gulf veterans and two thousand non gulf veterans found 36 percent reported at least one major health problem and over 80 percent had exposure to hazardous agents. No single exposure linked to the medical or psychiatric problems.
