Rolland Gallagher reports for the year ended June 30 1977 cities received a large share of net Iowa liquor sales with counties also benefiting. Five percent of liquor sales are set aside to replace tax revenue lost from military service tax exemptions and redistributed to counties. Creston man Noah Kohl killed in Ottumwa crash
Noah W Kohl 55 of Creston died when his car collided with a truck on US 63 south of Ottumwa. Three car passengers including his niece Betty Culbert 30 and her children 10 and 8 were injured. Truck driver from Rochester Minn had minor injuries. The 3 p.m. crash occurred as the auto slid after icy roads, authorities said.
