In Benicia California three workers died and eleven were hospitalized after carbon monoxide flooded an empty silo shaped tank during repairs at the Exxon refinery located 35 miles northeast of San Francisco. Four other workers were hurt during rescue efforts.
A three story Buddhist temple in Manila's Santa Cruz district burned causing the deaths of at least 16 Chinese worshippers during the feast of a Chinese god. Authorities suspect candles and incense as the fire sparked amid bunting and scrolls.
