Martin Luther Geiss 91, of 701 Third Ave SW, died Wednesday in a Cedar Rapids nursing home. Born in 1867 in Germany he immigrated in 1885 and settled in Cedar Rapids. A charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he worked 46 years for Cedar Rapids and Marion Railway Co. Services at Trinity Lutheran at 1 30 PM Saturday conducted by Rev E W Koberg. Burial at Linwood. Friends may visit Beatty Bearle's from 6 PM Thursday to 11 AM Saturday.
LeRoy Zeke Sword of route 2 Cedar Rapids died Wednesday morning after a short illness. Born October 8 1886 in Benton county he lived in the area for 70 years. A World War I veteran he belonged to the American Legion post at Ely and IOOF lodge 581. Surviving is his brother I L Sword of Cedar Rapids. Services in Brush chapel at 130 Friday with burial in Western cemetery. Friends may call after 330 Thursday.
Jane E Billau 93 widow of Charles Frederick Billau former Cedar Rapids resident died in Hinsdale Illinois Tuesday. Surviving daughter Margaret Seymour Hinsdale. Private graveside services at Oak Hill 11 Friday conducted by Rev J Richard Wagner First Congregational church. Body returned to Turner's but the casket will not be opened.
A man arrested aboard an Atlanta bound Capital Airlines Viscount after a telephoned bomb threat led to heroin found in luggage from LaGuardia. The heroin valued at 500000 dollars. The suspect, Richard Alston of Jamaica Long Island, used the alias W Hatchett and was held for investigation.

Army veterans discharged after 27 months of active duty will no longer be required to participate in the active reserve.
