Two 20 year olds Myron Nielson of Marion and Robert Fowler of Springville were held at the Cedar Rapids city jail after authorities say they mixed gin with a carbonated drink at the Silver Palace on Sixteenth Avenue SW. Initially booked for violating liquor laws, charges were later changed to disorderly conduct and they were released on bonds. Patrolman Weiland and Matron Herbert arrested them as they attempted to be served beer before a police court hearing Saturday. Chief Robert Vlach noted the department is investigating beer parlors for selling to minors and urged proof of age when doubt arises. Cedar Rapids will not tolerate violations of state law.
