Hollywood star Mary Astor admitted she married Manuel del Campo after a sunrise elopement to Yuma Arizona. The disclosure followed hours of evasion and denial, reported from Hollywood.
Remodeling of the main floor of Newman’s store to expand the men’s department will cost nearly 10 000 dollars and finish in three weeks. The rear will house enlarged bedding and linen sections with new display cases and shadow boxes. Dust fogged the panhandle area again early Thursday but Guymon schools were to reopen. A black blizzard near Hugoton Kansas subsided. eleven people died there from influenza and pneumonia recently. Blowing soil still plagued small parts of Colorado and Texas.
In Des Moines the Iowa House remained split at 54 Republicans and 54 Democrats as five Democrats joined Republicans to permanently seat Rep. W. N. Judd and a Republican minority report failed to seat Milton Peace. The session ended with Judd seated after roll call and little debate beyond remarks by Judd and Rep. Stimpson.
