Benson Says No Deception In Farm Data
Washington, D C Agricul ture Secretary Ezra T Benson defended himself against Humphrey charges that he misleads the public about farm income. He said net farm income was 5 percent higher in 1956 than 1955 and argued that income should be reported when crops and livestock are sold and income is realized. He cited 1954 and 1955 inventory changes that would alter totals and listed various reporting methods to show how biased pictures could be drawn. He provided realized net income figures for 1953 through 1956.
