Kirkwood Community College reported its largest year to year jump in adult education enrollments for 1980-81 with 57,587 registrations across non credit general interest classes adult high school basic education vocational and recreational courses. enrollments rose 9 989 or about 21 percent as workers seek high school equivalency and additional qualifications amid a weak economy.

Youth charged with robbery in Cedar Rapids
A 17 year old boy was arrested on a robbery charge by Cedar Rapids police Monday morning in connection with a Dec 12 strong arm robbery of Rodger Moore. Moore, 21, reported being followed home from a convenience store at about 7 30 p m when one assailant punched him, while two others knocked him down and robbed him of a $77 digital watch and 1 in cash. The youth is held at Linn County juvenile detention center.
