Steer and Squad Car Window Shot During Southeast Cedar Rapids Chase
A Cedar Rapids squad car window was accidentally shot out during a chase of a runaway steer on the southeast side. Lt. John Kuhn said the officer who shot the steer fired the shot, which also hit a basement at 164 Thirty-fourth Street SE. The steer, pursued over two hours, was finally shot in the 3000 block of Pioneer Avenue SE.

Pesticide Fire Forces 350 Evacuations in Ivanhoe
A fire engulfed a packing shed containing pesticides in Ivanhoe California early Monday releasing toxic fumes. About 350 residents within a 28 block area fled as authorities evacuated the zone and fourteen firefighters were sent for blood tests at a Visalia hospital to check exposure.

A man who escaped from Linn county jail on May 21, 1970, has been captured in Lima, Ohio. Richard D.
