Iowa law changes broaden housing code enforcement and auto coverage
The state passes bills requiring cities with 15000+ residents to adopt housing codes or face a uniform international code. An amended worker compensation law extends hearing loss awards for prolonged noise exposure. A new foster care inspection rule increases unannounced reviews of licensed homes. Drug case reforms remove accommodation defenses, boosting prosecutions. Auto liability rules raise minimum coverage and require uninsured and underinsured options, with small premium impacts.
