Wartburg College builds outdoor observatory from recycled parts
Dr. Donald Rosseland and Gerald Tebben led a student project turning tractor axles street sign posts and boiler pipes into a small Mount Palomar style observatory west of Engelbrecht Library. The eight inch reflecting telescope, valued in the thousands, rests inside a state near night viewing? It cost about 425 dollars to construct with sheet metal cement hardware and a rotating dome roof.
