Shelter House winter shelter operates in county building

Johnson County Board of Supervisors approved Shelter House to use 821 S Clinton St for a low barrier winter emergency shelter. Since opening Dec 6, 389 individuals have been sheltered through Dec 18 with about 25 per night. The program aims to run through mid March with reduced street exposure and fewer calls to police.
