State Cars Operate At 2 Cents A Mile
DES MOINES AP It costs slightly more than 2 cents a mile for the state to operate automobiles, George Hesalroad, state car dispatcher, said Thursday. The figure comes from monthly reports on mileage, gasoline and depreciation of 322 cars under the state executive council. Hesalread said a depreciation scale based on mileage and fixed monthly rates of charge off had been worked out to determine the cars’ worth. State employees with approval to use their own cars on state business receive four cents a mile under a rate fixed by the last legislature.
