Hollywood Christmas Parade Under Desert Skies
The piece laments a Hollywood Christmas lacking cheer due to dry weather and empty toy aisles. It contrasts past newsboy cries with modern war wartime scarcity, noting lavish but hollow displays, pampered wealth, and a child’s fear of kidnapping amid the season’s glitter. It shifts to a discussion of sweating and exercise as vital for health, advocating walking and simple routines for longevity.
Exercise and warming up for safe health benefits
The piece argues against solo or group drill as purely athletic games, urging proper preparation before vigorous effort. It warns of heart strain for unfit adults, endorses warm up routines, and critiques shortcuts like sweat baths and massage as substitutes, stressing overall consistent activity for long life.
