The Aces on Bridge Theory and Play
In a bridge slam, the declarer avoids diamonds by a sequence that yields a discard from the South hand. The tactic begins with dummy’s six over the five, leads to the spade king, and continues with a heart seven to eight, allowing the black suits to be cashed. If the spade queen falls, the contract is made. if not, the diamond finesse remains an escape.
