Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Beatty-Beurle chapel with burial in Linwood cemetery.
Dan Hazen Owen of 1625 Maple Drive NW died Monday afternoon after an unexpected illness. Born May 13, 1906 in Ethel Missouri he worked in construction in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Murdock three other daughters a son eight grandchildren three brothers and a sister. Services set for 1 30 p m Thursday at Turner Chapel West with Rev Ernest W Larson of Trinity United Methodist Church. The casket will not be opened after the service.
John G Farmon age 59 of 2818 Evelyn Drive SW Cedar Rapids dies unexpectedly Tuesday. Born May 22 1912 in Faribault Minnesota he lived in Cedar Rapids and worked 28 years as a printer for the Dole Pineapple Co in Oakland California. Survived by sister Emelie brothers Rudy Fayman and Frank Chermak all of Cedar Rapids. Services at Brush chapel 10 30 a m Thursday Rev John K Moore officiating. Burial Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the chapel.

Elizabeth Blanche Murdoch observed at Turner Chapel East and Blanche Witousek at Brush Chapel, both with burials at Czech National cemetery. Reverend Maguire and Reverend Hilker officiated. Stewart Funeral Home conducted arrangements.
Cedar Rapids city council approved construction of a new pedestrian ramp at the underground plaza parking lot entrance to city hall. The ramp will aid handicapped persons and is estimated to cost about 750 dollars.
Lonnie Green, 23, of Chicago, was sentenced by Linn District Judge Ansel Chapman to up to 25 years in the Anamosa reformatory for his role in the July 5 Sheronick's grocery robbery in southwest Cedar Rapids. He pled guilty to robbery with aggravation on Nov. 16.
William H. Cash, 27, of Iowa City, was fined 500 dollars after pleading guilty to a second offense drunk driving charge. Linn District Judge William Eads imposed the sentence. Cash was arrested by sheriff's deputies July 13 during an accident investigation on C avenue NE north of Cedar Rapids.
