Eastern Iowa Wins Large Share of State Road Funds
The Iowa Department of Transportation approved its five year plan with northeast Iowa slated to receive about 40 percent of the total 590 million dollars. Over 42 million will be spent in the Gazette area in 1978 with through 1983 funding near 215 million for the region. Linn County will see major I 380 work and spending totals exceed 95 million by 1983 with a further 21 million after. Don Gardner notes interstate projects limit use of funds and that eastern Iowa bears a heavy but not all use of the money.
