Iowa Commerce Commission approves clearer utility shutoff notices
Iowa utility customers behind on bills will get a standard notice outlining rights to avoid disconnection. The rules require written notice 12 days before, phone or in person contact, and a 24 hour door notice if no contact. Disconnections may be delayed for health reasons and customers can appeal or seek help. Rules take effect in 1984, with voluntary early compliance likely.
