Linn County Mental Health Services opens a support center on the second floor of the YWCA in Cedar Rapids. The facility will be available to adults with mental health needs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday starting next week.
Photographer Bob Campagna created a calendar featuring 13 Cornell College women described as a little more steamy than typical college calendars. The calendar serves as a fundraising project for a men's social group at Cornell College.

Bertram Spore Jr. returned home to Cedar Rapids after a severe crash in which his milk truck collided with a moving train on November 18. His wife and three children raised a banner at 5759 First Ave. SW to welcome him. Spore was trapped for 15 minutes before rescue crews freed him. The week saw a second vehicle train crash in the city.

Britt Airways Inc of Terre Haute has bought two BAC-111 jets, its first foray into jet service. A delivery by late January is planned while a Cedar Rapids to Chicago route may be added next year contingent on final decisions by mid January. Air Illinois begins Cedar Rapids service Dec 15 with 73 seat BAC-111 jets and Britt plans cabin reconfiguration to add leg room.
