Frank Wood, a Cedar Rapids resident, built a world spanning film career before settling into hotel management and business ventures. He toured with theater troupes, acted with stars like Ethel Barrymore and Lionel Barrymore, directed short comedies, and served three years in the Canadian army during World War I. He later returned to the Midwest as a film salesman and theater manager, then managed hotels while pursuing business ambitions. He first came to Cedar Rapids in 1903 with Three Little Maids.
