Jimmie Haizlip of St. Louis led the Bendix trophy field from Los Angeles to Cleveland arriving at 2 06 p m Iowa time with an unofficial 8 hour 11 minute elapsed. He heads toward New York hoping to beat Jimmie Doolittle’s Bendix and trans continental marks. Doolittle set last year's Bendix record at 9 10 21 and his trans continental record is 11 16.
Berlin dispatch reports Adolf Hitler again rejected a political plan that would make him vice-chancellor while giving Nazis control of Prussian premiership and interior ministries. Hitler demanded the chancellorship for himself, meeting with von Papen and von Schleicher at lunch.

Sproat of Twin Falls Idaho drove separate cars. Stuelpnagel said he dozed and swerved left. Elva Triggs of Sterling Illinois rode with him. Mrs. Sproat said she stopped before impact. All four were taken to St. Luke's hospital with varying injuries. Sproat suffered four fractured ribs, others had cuts and possible internal injuries.
Horton Bailey of 361 Park Terrace died by self-inflicted gunshot at Ellis Park around 7 a.m. Monday. A note addressed to "Eva" explained his intent and requested his body be taken away. Coroner R A Vorphal ruled a death by own action with no inquest. Bailey left a spouse and sister, Mrs Mary.
