Man hospital scene after Cedar Rapids motorcycle crash

Gary D. Sieck, 28, of Cedar Rapids, was thrown from his motorcycle when it collided with a car driven by Larry Covington, 28, at 11th Street and 15th Avenue SW. Sieck received aid at St. Luke's Hospital then released. he faces a charge of failure to yield to a vehicle on the right.

Cedar Rapids officer cut during bathroom standoff

Cedar Rapids Sergeant William Serbousek suffered a half inch cut to his right hip when allegedly pushed through a tempered glass shower door at 1950 A Ave NE. Darin M. Scheib, 18, was arrested for assault after refusing to emerge from the bathroom following a drunk driving arrest.

Burglars Hit Cedar Rapids Homes Over Weekend

Cedar Rapids police investigated two burglaries reported Thursday and Friday. At 3711 Elmwood Drive NE, $1 080 in cameras and photography gear were taken from a living room with no sign of forced entry. At 1231 Second Ave SE a TV set window fan and cigarettes were stolen after a screen was torn from an open window, valued at $429.

Gas group denies front for decontrol campaign

The National Gas Supply Association officials denied claims by the Iowa Citizen/Labor Energy Coalition that the group funds a front organization for decontrol of natural gas prices. NGSA says members contributed $1 million to cover Alliance for Energy Security expenses, and asserts the alliance is a public, openly announced entity with an 11 member advisory board including Dean Kleckner of the Iowa Farm Bureau. The national alliance office is listed as 1925 North Lynn, Suite 1110, Arlington Virginia.
