More than 500 Vietnam veterans and families gathered for the first Iowa Vietnam Veterans Reunion at the Roosevelt Hotel in Cedar Rapids. The weekend included sessions, a memorial walk to Veterans Coliseum and a Legion Park picnic in Marion, with attendees sharing memories and overcoming stigma. Florence Randall spoke of her son Terry, a Marine killed in action March 4, 1968, and expressed pride in the new gathering.
