Around the Town Tales From an Everyday Neighborhood
Residents on Nineteenth Street in Cedar Rapids reacted to a car scene as Senator Frank C. Byers appeared seeking a monkey wrench. The column recaps playful local anecdotes from generating laughter at doctor visits to a plastic “police court” misunderstanding and a Cedar Rapids girl plotting a daily tasks routine emphasizing minding mother. It also notes a wedding dawn kneeling and a humorous mischief with mint juleps, a backyard caper with an alligator, and light political quips about Milwaukee’s Heil cocktails.
