Berry joins Cedar Rapids sewer study committee

Herb Berry of 1803 First Avenue SE has been named the tenth member of the Cedar Rapids mayor's committee studying sanitary and storm sewer problems. Berry is a partner in Howard R. Cherry Burrell Reports Sharp Rise in Earnings

Cherry Burrell Corp. today announced improved earnings for the third quarter and first nine months of the fiscal year. In the quarter ended July 31, sales reached 7.2 million with net income of 189 thousand and 40 cents per share. Nine-month sales were 20.19 million, with net income up 46 percent to 317 thousand and earnings per share of 61 cents, up from 37 cents a year ago.

Native Iowans Named President of Hormel Co

I. J. Holton a Cedar Rapids native and University of Iowa graduate has been named president of Hormel Co in Austin Minnesota. He previously led the law department and served as executive vice president and secretary before the August board meeting. He earned his JD from Iowa in 1947 after WWII service as an army major.

Fritz V Shoquist age 74 died after a long illness in a Cedar Rapids hospital Tuesday. Born March 29, 1890 in Cambridge Illinois he married Bertha Sherburne in Rock Island on November 24 1920. A former Des Moines resident he was active in Highland Park Presbyterian church and numerous fraternal organizations across Iowa.

Mrs Otis Leefers Alice Ethel Leefers widow of Otis Leefers longtime Cedar Rapids resident died in Wheeling West Virginia after a long illness. Joseph R. Maresh 78 of 1449 Fortieth street NE Cedar Rapids died Monday after a long illness. Born April 18 1891 in Czechoslovakia he came to Cedar Rapids in 1902.
