Two Month Wait for Stop Signs on E Avenue

Cedar Rapids officials delayed installing two stop signs at E Avenue and Third Street NW after council approval on June 20. The process required IDOT approval due to the Highway 94 designation, with reviews in Ames and a monthly IDOT Commission meeting. Delays stemmed from administrative steps, drafting a news release, and a two week posting rule before installation. The site had high prior accident rates, and one‑way traffic remains without signals since 1984.
