The Iowa Liquor Control Commission announced that after one year, most class C licenses taverns and similar venues were renewed amid seasonal cancellations and minor changes. Of 1,136 issued, 1,906 renewed, with few cancellations or nonrenewals. class A clubs saw 286 renewals. class B hotels and motels had 53 renewals. six class D licenses had five renewals.
CEDAR FALLS The resignation of Loree Wilson SC Iowa news information assistant in college relations for four years is announced by SCS President J W Maucker. Wilson resigns effective Aug 15. Replacing her as director will be Mary Winghe Medina ND a recent University of North Dakota Grand Forks graduate. Wilson will pursue graduate study at Iowa Writers Workshop and enroll in the MFA program in English.
The town council approved a budget of 2449 dollars this week and voted to enlarge the town hall. It also authorized installation of Mercury vapor lights within the next month and the placement of stop and yield signs where needed.

DECORAH Karl M. Torgerson, Luther college controller and purchasing agent since July 1963, resigns to become controller and treasurer at California Luther College in Thousand Oaks. He will assume duties about Sept. 1. Torgerson arrived in 1961 as director of development after heading the division of audit.
Iowa City officials report the Iowa highway commission will install stop and go signals at the intersections of highway six with Newton road and Rocky Shore drive. City Manager Leikvald will oversee installation and push to widen the railway underpass at Rocky Shore drive, beginning with talks with Crandia railway officials.
Des Moines AP Atty Gen Hultman Republican candidate for governor said replacing the five member Iowa highway commission with a single administrator could be feasible. He stressed he is not yet urging a change in the commission’s structure during his bid to defeat Gov Harold Hughes and is exploring public reaction. He spoke at Drake University on state and local government.
Three people hospitalized after a crash involving three cars and a semi-truck on Highway 52, two miles north of Burr Oak. Loren Amundson, 37, stopped to turn when the northbound car rear‑ended by Carol Gunderson, 22, pushed into the southbound semi which rolled onto its side.
