The Wilson high school voice and music departments present Melody Roundup a Western themed musical and variety show directed by Terrence Carlson on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. Featured numbers include Empty Saddles Ragtime Cowboy Joe and Boots and Saddies with a cattle rustler story, male quartet square dancers a Western band and soloists plus three choir numbers. Iowa City announces a 96 page handbook titled A Handbook of Accounting and Financial Procedures in Iowa Towns and Cities. Warren E. Marley, PhD, wrote it as part of his doctoral work supervised by Professors Maynard and Rigenberg, with input from the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association. The guide targets city and town clerks in smaller communities to help new accounting officers learn duties.
NEWTON MS Five of six districts back consolidation in a Baxter community district with Eden Marshall county voting against. Edward Wilimek Jasper County school superintendent says the new district will form from the five in favor, comprising four in Jasper County and one in another area.
In Algona Iowa the reorganization of the school district passed in 11 townships by 838 to 163 with three townships previously voting against. In Lake City Iowa all eight districts approved the Lake City community school district merger by 862 to 200, affecting sections of Calhoun and Carroll counties.
