Missouri House backs legal shield for Roundup maker

The Missouri House approved a bill shielding Bayer and the Roundup maker from future cancer warning lawsuits by deeming federally approved pesticide labels sufficient. The 91 to 57 vote backed the measure as it moves to the Senate, with critics warning it could shield harm cases. The bill’s support stems from protecting farmers and chemical supply, though opponents fear it delays accountability.

A former UIHC resident, Dr. Gabriel Hernandez Roman of Iowa City, fights an indefinite suspension and $7,500 civil penalty from the Iowa Board of Medicine. The board alleges he used physician access to private records for relationships, while he contends internal University of Iowa dress code violations drove the punishment, not medical standards.
