Veishea Queen Finalists Named At ISU

Iowa State University students chose three Veishea Queen finalists for the festival season. Stephanie Dozoryst from Des Moines is a former Greek Week queen, Joyce Frederick from Anamosa is a residence hall queen, and Nancy Chase from Des Moines is a Homecoming queen. The winner will be announced at opening ceremonies in May.

Gandhi Kin’s Son Plans American Wedding in Ohio

Kanti Gandhi will fly to the United States for the May 3 marriage of her son, Dr. Shantikumar K. Gandhi, to Susan La Force in Youngstown Ohio. He is Mohandas Gandhi’s great grandson and the first Gandhi to wed a foreigner. The ceremony includes a Hindu rite performed by a Brahmin from the Indian consulate in New York.

Lady Clementine Churchill aged 84, widow of Sir Winston Churchill, was discharged from Westminster Hospital after recovering from a broken thigh suffered in a fall on April 4. Doctors had valued her condition as concerning at times but she rallied in the past week and was released.
