Police reported a man was sprayed with Mace or a similar chemical during a tavern argument at Paradise tavern on First Avenue SE. Thomas O Connell 21 of Coe College, involved in a disagreement with another man who fled the scene after the incident.
Police arrived to an incident where an odor believed to be mace or similar police use chemical was detected. Detectives remained at the scene and continued investigating later Wednesday.
Animal lovers plan Sunday morning protests against fox shoots in London cemeteries where foxes badgers small deer and other wildlife inhabit neglected plots in the metropolitan area.

The Cedar Rapids water department pumped 459,730,000 gallons in March under superintendent George S. Lee, averaging 14,830,000 gallons daily. The plant used 602,460 kilowatt hours of electricity. well water hardness averaged 17.5 grains per gallon while treated water measured 5.7 grains per gallon.

Jack Klaus of Earlville returns from Ft Polk for 15 days, Dale J Usher from Ft Benning for 21 days en route to Vietnam, Steve Frazier en route from Korea to Ft Jackson for 30 days, and Sgt Tom W Watson, son of Wayne Watson, receives the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry as a Green Beret advisor in Vietnam.
