Buchanan Court Hears Multiple Sentences in Independence Case
In Buchanan County District Court Tim A. Close of Independence received a suspended ten year term for third degree sexual abuse with five years probation and required restitution and sex offender program after a 1991 case involving a 14 year old. Jeffrey M. Friis of Manchester got a $500 fine and 30 days for drunken driving with conditions. David L. Bell of Independence faced a $750 fine and one year jail with most suspended plus three years probation and license revocation. Richard Beard of Oelwein was fined $500 and two days for drunken driving with a driving school requirement.
