A two car crash on highway 30 near Atkins at about 11 p.m. Thursday left three people hospitalized in Cedar Rapids and five treated and released. Charles Nerison 27 and Bill McGregor 12 were at Mercy hospital in fair condition with facial lacerations and a leg injury respectively, while Christi Nordman 11 at St. Luke's was observed. The Nordman family and McGregor/Nerison groups were in separate cars. the accident's cause was not immediately available.
Milton Eisenhower, 69, brother of the late President, was discharged from Walter Reed army hospital Friday after a visit by Mrs. Dwight Eisenhower. He will continue under his own doctor's care following a mild episode of coronary insufficiency.

Ruth E Bates 50 of 1129 Ellis Blvd NW Cedar Rapids died Friday after a brief illness. Born January 9 1919 in Dixon she lived in Cedar Rapids 48 years and worked 23 years for Wilson and Co. Survived by two daughters two sons 12 grandchildren four sisters and two brothers. Memorial service Monday 3 pm Kuba funeral home east Rev Ralph B Colton. Burial Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at Kuba Sunday.
Emma Graham Dudley, longtime Cedar Rapids resident and wife of Arthur Dudley, died Friday after a brief illness. Born October 9, 1902, she married Arthur Dudley in 1954. Survived by husband, two daughters Dorothy Nosek and Patty English, a son Cecil Graham, and ten grandchildren. Memorial services Monday at Turner Chapel West at 10 30 a.m. led by Rev L George Pimlott of St James United Methodist Church. Burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Turner Chapel West Saturday after 10 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday. The casket will not be opened after the service.
Cynthia Marie Overman, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Overman Jr., of 78 Cherry Hill Road NW Cedar Rapids, died Friday. She was born Thursday. Survived by twin sister and brother David Henry at home, grandparents Byron Raines and Henry E. Overman, and great grandmother Leo Minehart, Cedar Rapids. A private memorial will be held at Turner Mortuary West Saturday with Rev. E Koberg of Trinity Lutheran Church. Cremation committal service planned.
Daniel Clayton Burch infant son of Mr and Mrs Robert O Burch died Thursday. Survived by brother Douglas R and grandparents John Roush and K C Burch all of Dayton Ohio. Graveside services at Linwood Cemetery 3 p.m. Saturday by Rev Richard Ernst of Weseleyan Methodist Church. Casket will not be opened. Turner Chapel West in charge of arrangements.
Robert B Sharp formerly of 117 Eighteenth Street NE and later Chicago, died there on Thursday. Born June 13, 1889 in Fulton Kentucky, he married Lorena Campbell on December 4, 1961 in Chicago. He was a member of the American Legion Post at Johnson City Tennessee.

Two former Cedar Rapids men fled from St John jail after overpowering Sheriff Gere and stealing his patrol car. They are Samuel L. Peters Jr and James J Burns, now of Des Moines, armed with a shotgun a .38 pistol and a .22 rifle. They had been held for robbing a Wichita store kidnapping the Stafford night marshal and stealing an airplane.
King death observances continued, with cities declaring memorial days. Mayor Walter Washington of Washington, D.C., proclaimed a day of memorial in the capital. In Atlanta, where King lived, Mayor Ivan Allen declared observances as well.
New York officials honor Dr. Kings legacy praising non-violence and civil rights progress. Mayor John V. Lindsay dispatched five young Harlem activists as official city representatives to join the Memphis march.
Rioting on Chicago's West Side linked to king memorial events spurred Gov. Ogilvie's warning that the state will not tolerate violence. About 500 officers guarded the march path from State Street and Wacker Drive to the South Side coliseum as overtime shifts were ordered. Police reported damage at Crane high, with looting, broken glass, and fires, while violence spread to Lindblom and South Shore high schools. Sniper fire was reported from Cabrini housing project as looters roamed near by. by nightfall, the streets showed only police, guards, and scattered civilians.
Bessie J. Harvey, 44, of 296 Thirty-fifth Street Drive SE, Cedar Rapids, was found dead at home Wednesday night from a personal safety related gunshot to the head. Born August 26, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, she was the widow of Fred Harvey. Surviving: daughter Mrs Leonard Hopkins, two grandsons, parents Mr and Mrs Rudolf Zumer, and two sisters Mrs George Hromatko and Mrs Joseph Hembera. Memorial services Saturday at Kuba Funeral Home East at 3 with Rev William B. Harnish. Burial in Dunkard Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 Friday.
A continuing Iowa downpour raises the Little Sioux river near Cherokee to 20.05 feet, flooding lowlands and forcing 24 hour flood control watches. Mill Creek spills north of Cherokee, with no homes evacuated, while Riverside Drive in Iowa City sees water near the University of Iowa fine arts complex. Clearing and cooler conditions follow as Easter weekend approaches.

Duane Moon president of William Penn College rejected a list of non negotiable demands from the Afro American Student Union. The 1969 ultimatum called for black tutors a black professor and counselor and a black history course. About 42 of 950 students are black.
