Briles avoids leapfrog into vacant Iowa Senate seat
State Sen. James Briles of Corning will stay in office without election as Sen. Richard Ramsey moves to Ankeny removing Briles from a joint district. Ramsey's move leaves Briles as sole incumbent and avoids a possible primary with Rep. Horace Daggett. Daggett plans to seek the nomination if a vacancy occurs. Rep. Joe Gross eyes either the Senate or House spot if Daggett moves.
