Gerald Moriarity publisher of the Mason City Globe-Gazette was elected IPA president at the convention succeeding Carter Pitts. Officers include Al J. Schafer vice president M.E. Messersmith treasurer Maurice Noonan recording secretary and Gary Spurgeon named to the IPA board. The Northwest Iowa Review won Newspaper of the Year and other editors won general excellence awards. Burlington Hawkeye also earned a daily general excellence honor.

Berlin drops plan to move City planning staff
