Cardinal MacRory aged 84 marked a 60 year association with the church. The event was noted at St. Patrick's Cathedral Armagh with a Solemn Votive Mass. Bishop William Iy of Raphoe assisted. He was born at Ballygawhley on 9 1861 and became Archbishop of Armagh on June 27 1928.

A 1944 Regis Regina high school graduate Miss B Clare Kammerer 4228 Ivanhoe Ave entered the nursing of the Sisters of the Pious Blood Salem Heights Dayton Aug 12. Several others from Regina became aspirants in the Congregation of the Precious Blood in September and October as part of ongoing church service.
Five archdiocesan service men are listed among this week s casualties. Two cousins Priestle and Gottmann died when the cruiser Indianapolis sank July 30. Priestle son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Priestle of Cincinnati leaves two sisters and a brother in Germany. Gottmann son of Mrs Lena Gottmann of Cincinnati leaves his mother and five siblings.
