Crowns of Flowers Honor Nobility in Medieval Feast
During the Middle Ages nobles wore flower chaplets as marks of distinction. The custom arose around the Mass of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7, highlighting courtly ritual and religious pageantry.
Feast Honoring Mary as Queen of Heaven and Rosary Devotion
The Church honors the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and of souls on the feast day. A rosary chaplet of roses is offered to Mary, tracing the origin of the Most Holy Rosary to historic battles and papal acts extending the feast to all. The Mass prayer emphasizes the Rosary as a mental prayer centered on Mary.
