Logan County Catholic Church Quietly Born in 1828 Moonlight Effort
The first Catholic church in Logan County arose as a rustic log cabin built in 1828 by Catholic converts among the Piatt family and Irish settlers. It stood on five acres donated to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati near Mac A Cheek Valley, serving parishioners without a resident pastor.

Ursuline Grad Wins National Christmas Card Prize
Nancy Maloney of Our Mother of Sorrows parish Cincinnati won sixth prize in a national religious Christmas card contest while she was a senior at Ursuline academy Oak Street Barton-Cotton Nebraska. Baltimore publishing firm sponsored the contest and Maloney also won first prize in the high school division with her design for a Chesere. Both students from the academy were among 12 national winners in the elementary division.

Cathedral Seminary Fund Nears $5 Million Goal
The Cathedral Seminary fund campaign reports more than 85 percent of the needed amount for St. Peter in Chains restoration and modernizing the seminary. Parish quotas total 160.3 with cash and memorial gifts rising to 119,650 this week and other gifts adding 3,726 to the grand total. Monsignor Wagner says the goal should be reached within a week as parishioners respond to the Archbishop's appeal.
