The Oakwood parish expects the St. Albert the Great church expansion to finish by mid March. The project enlarges seating from 50 to 800, adds a glass enclosed cry room, two altars, windows, and oak pews, and links to a new rectory and offices with a breezeway.
A monthly Holy Hour for teens will be hosted at St Mark's under the Catholic Youth organization. The service, led by Archbishop Area, occurs on the fourth Sunday each month through the summer and invites students from Purcell St Xavier's McNicholas Regina and St Mary's high schools.
In Cincinnati Father Gabriel Buescher warned young women in St Bonaventure Church eight week Pre Cana that rushing into marriage is like sight unseen trading. He urged friendship virtue and self control plus planned dates and moderate alcohol use to protect chas ity and holy vocation.
Archbishop Karl J. Alter will preside March 8 at Sts. Peter and Paul church as 44 Mt. St. Mary seminary students advance toward priesthood. Five will be ordained deacons, one subdeacon. four deacons special orders for various dioceses. Minor orders porter and lector conferred on four students. Of 34 to receive tonsure, 19 study for Cincinnati Archdiocese.
Catholic Education Day will be observed in Dayton on April 22 sponsored by the Dayton Federation of PTAs. The event at Julienne high school features an outstanding speaker on Youth activities, with committees handling luncheon tickets decorations invitations publicity and program.
Xavier University will provide housing for out of town nuns during its 1952 summer sessions. The Sacred Heart convent at 525 Lafayette Clifton will host nuns for two and a half months, offering library study halls and recreational facilities. Two sessions run June 16 to July 25 and July 28 to August 29 with graduate and undergraduate classes open to men and women.
Father R Russell Sprinkle, Maryknoll missioner expelled from China by Communist authorities, is scheduled to return to the United States on furlough. The Franklin native spent five months in a Communist prison last year and was under house arrest after release until his expulsion on January 17. He baptized over 1,000 converts in 1950 and led 16 villages with many awaiting instruction before the crackdown.
96 year old Chel M Higgins of St Henrys parish Cincinnati marks his 28th birth day, he says living long depends on fewer birthday celebrations. A former cook who traveled the world, he now serves as godfather to many children at Holy Trinity and St Henrys churches. He plans to keep serving the Lord.
Junior and senior high girls can enter a "Careers in Nursing" contest starting March 1 in Southwest Ohio. The Southwestern district hospital council and Ohio Hospital Association sponsor 48 prizes totaling 1000 dollars for 100 word or less entries completing "Nursing is the ideal career because ..." First prize is 350 dollars, second 225, third 125, with four 20 dollar prizes and weekly five dollar prizes through March 29.
Xavier University Family Life Institute announces its annual conference on campus March 21 to 23 led by director C Glynn Fraser. The institute recently earned a Freedoms Foundation award and a $200 prize for its year‑round programs including marriage and family life courses and pre Cana conferences.

About 66 percent say discipline is worsened by distraction and loss of concentration caused by media. parents at home remain the key factor in conduct.
The Cincinnati deanery of the Archdiocesan Union of the Holy Name holds a Sunday meeting on March 2 at 2 30 p.m. in the Assumption Church auditorium on Gilbert Avenue. Father John F Dillon, pastor and deanery spiritual director, will host.
Father Frederick N S J chairman of Xavier chemistry explains a pro science hall model to Robert A Ryan Xavier alumni treasurer. The building near Albers hall will house chemistry offices labs classrooms and stores. It will be named for Thomas J who left 355 000 in 1929. Architect Albert W Walters designed it.
