Oakwood Church Expansion Nears Mid March Finish

The Oakwood parish expects the St. Albert the Great church expansion to finish by mid March. The project enlarges seating from 50 to 800, adds a glass enclosed cry room, two altars, windows, and oak pews, and links to a new rectory and offices with a breezeway.

Special Holy Hour for Area Youths at St Mark's

A monthly Holy Hour for teens will be hosted at St Mark's under the Catholic Youth organization. The service, led by Archbishop Area, occurs on the fourth Sunday each month through the summer and invites students from Purcell St Xavier's McNicholas Regina and St Mary's high schools.

Xavier U Furnishes Summer Quarters for Nuns

Xavier University will provide housing for out of town nuns during its 1952 summer sessions. The Sacred Heart convent at 525 Lafayette Clifton will host nuns for two and a half months, offering library study halls and recreational facilities. Two sessions run June 16 to July 25 and July 28 to August 29 with graduate and undergraduate classes open to men and women.

Fr Sprinkle to Return to United States Missioner

Father R Russell Sprinkle, Maryknoll missioner expelled from China by Communist authorities, is scheduled to return to the United States on furlough. The Franklin native spent five months in a Communist prison last year and was under house arrest after release until his expulsion on January 17. He baptized over 1,000 converts in 1950 and led 16 villages with many awaiting instruction before the crackdown.

Chel Higgins celebrates 96th birthday amid long life creed

96 year old Chel M Higgins of St Henrys parish Cincinnati marks his 28th birth day, he says living long depends on fewer birthday celebrations. A former cook who traveled the world, he now serves as godfather to many children at Holy Trinity and St Henrys churches. He plans to keep serving the Lord.

Nursing Careers Contest Offers $1000 in Prizes in Southwest Ohio

Junior and senior high girls can enter a "Careers in Nursing" contest starting March 1 in Southwest Ohio. The Southwestern district hospital council and Ohio Hospital Association sponsor 48 prizes totaling 1000 dollars for 100 word or less entries completing "Nursing is the ideal career because ..." First prize is 350 dollars, second 225, third 125, with four 20 dollar prizes and weekly five dollar prizes through March 29.

Xavier Plans New Chemistry Building Named for Benefactor

Father Frederick N S J chairman of Xavier chemistry explains a pro science hall model to Robert A Ryan Xavier alumni treasurer.
