Burlington project advances with ballast shipment near Guernsey
The Burlington plans to install a rock crusher on 45 acres of government land four miles east of Guernsey and begin ballast shipments. Rail work between Kirby and Thermopolis aims for trains into Thermopolis by February 1. Contractors for the Big Horn grade move supplies by pack trains after wagon lines proved impractical. Two bondholders of the insolvent Big Horn Basin Development Co. have bought the business for 20,100 dollars to reorganize and finish the Oregon Basin irrigation system, Wyoming’s largest project, expected to reclaim 250 000 to 300 000 acres.
